The new sardine carrier Mary Anne, the first to feature refrigeration, meets the sea after her christening.
The vessel was built by Newbert and Wallace Shipyard, Thomaston, for Lubec sardine magnate Moses Pike's Holmes Packing Company. The ship served the industry for over half a century.
